OHSS Blues & A Cry for Help

So, it's official...My doc thinks I have at least a mild case of OHSS, but we won't know more till the transfer tomorrow.

I've been chugging Vitamin Water like no one's business, and trying to eat protein when I can stomach to eat anything.  I walked around a little today and did some household chores, and now I'm trying to relax with my feet up, but I think the exertions today and the last few days might have made things worse.

I'm beginning to worry about being benched for transfer if things continue deteriorating, and I'm hoping for some advice from you ladies.  Has anyone out there gone through this and been able to go through with the transfer?  Is there anything more I can be doing for myself today to prepare?

Help! :(

  1. I have no personal advice for you but I know my friend had mild OHSS and was still able to go through with her transfer, it actually got worse after the transfer but she ended up with a BFP and has a beautiful little girl now so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is what happens for you!

  2. oh kerri, It sucks that you have this additional hurdle. bleghhh. I will be sending you some extra special thoughts. Have you tried the Odwala protein drinks? or another liquid form of protein, like Ensure? There are times when I just don;t feel like eating, but can usually stomach sipping on one of those drinks. I think they have something like 20 grams of protein per drink. Gosh I wish I had some better advice or a magic pill to offer you. Keep those feet up! xoxo - Foxy

  3. I drank coconut water after my retrieval - it has more electrolytes then the sports drinks - but I didn't like the plain flavor. It does come in pineapple flavor to give us infertiles our daily dose of pineapple.

OMG! When will they take a peek to be sure? Did he give you any instructions to help calm down the OHSS? Maybe lower the dosages?
Ok, I'm RE-crossing my fingers and toes a little bit tighter!!!

And of course sending you tons of HUGS!

  8. I hope you are in the clear for your transfer! I don't have any experience with OHSS, but I am prone to it, so I may someday be in your shoes.

I am praying for you and hope things settle down in there and you can continue on with the plan.

    Good luck sweetie!

  9. There is a girl in my blog roll (Sara) who had severe OHSS, still had a 3 day transfer and now has a beautiful baby boy! Get plenty of protein, drink gatorade or cytomax and rest. Hang in there, wishing you all the best!

  12. I found you through ICLW, and, although I don't have any advice, I just wanted to say that I really hope things don't deteriorate, and you are able to go ahead with the transfer as planned.

  15. Hey, my transfer had to be postponed due to OHSS back in October. We then did a FET in December and I got a bfp (unfortunately ended in m/c but that's unrelated). I was glad we waited as a bfp would have made the OHSS so much worse. I felt awful with OHSS, really sick and could barely drink water, ended up on a drip. By time the FET came around, I felt so well and healthy, my body was really ready for the embryos. Best of luck!
